BEST BIKE TRAIL

Winner: The Midtown Greenway
Now that its been extended to the West River Parkway, the Greenway has finally reached its full potential. It offers a wide, hugely useful path through the center of Minneapolis that's used by commuters dressed for law firms, chatty Rollerbladers, punks on novelty bikes, joggers, strollers, and joggers with strollers. The Greenway itself only covers about six miles, but if you need more exercise, there are several longer routes. From the Greenway's eastern terminus, you can take the West River Parkway south to the Ford Bridge, cross, complete the loop via the East River Parkway, and get a swift ride with spirit-lifting views of the Mississippi.
