For nearly 146 miles on MN 61 North, travelers follow Lake Superior's shoreline through several beachside towns interspersed throughout the North Woods. Stop and stay along the way at any of the quaint bed-and-breakfast spots, cabins, or campgrounds that dot the roadway. With at least eight state parks, ample recreation activities, and a multitude of museums, there's something for everyone. Seriously, who needs Hawaii when three hours north you can whale-watch (really!) and frolic under waterfalls?
